Teaching Positions Available in the Department of Geography.

1.PROFESSOR
FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCE in the department of
Geography in the fields of Physical Geography – candidate
must be of scholarly standing and able to guide and advise
the department in teaching, research and publication. This
post may be held on 1-2 year contract.
2.ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCE in the department of
Geography in the fields of Human Geography – candidate
must possess a PhD in a sub-field of human geography eg.
Industrial Geography, Historical Geography or other relevant
specialization.
3.LECTURER
FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCE in the department of
Geography in the fields of Human Geography – candidate
must possess a PhD in a sub-field of human geography eg.
Industrial Geography, Historical Geography or other relevant
specialization
Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :
PROFESSOR AND ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
1. Applicants must possess:
(a) a Masters’ degree OR PhD in the
relevant field AND
(b) proven academic excellence AND
(c) have a wide experience in the field concerned.
2. Applicants are expected to have a strong
and distinguished record of teaching, research and publication
in the field concerned and proven ability to provide academic
leadership in teaching, research and departmental development.
LECTURER
Applicants must possess a Masters’s
Degree or a PhD in the relevant field.
GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Priority will be given to applicants with
a PhD qualification.
2. All qualifications must be recognized by
the Government of Malaysia.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT: Credit
in Bahasa Malaysia including a pass in the oral test at
the Malaysian Certificate of Education level or its equivalent.
This requirement is applicable for Malaysian citizens only.
MODE OF APPOINTMENT:
(a) Permanent appointment for Malaysian citizens.
However, University of Malaya reserves the right to appoint
Malaysian citizens on short-term contracts.
(b) Contract appointment for non-Malaysians.
SALARY: Initial salary offered
will be in the range as given below depending on the candidate’s
qualifications and experience:
Professor : from RM6,000.00 - RM7,600.00 per
month
Associate : from RM4,300.00 - RM6,000.00 per
month
Professor
Lecturer : from RM2,200.00 - RM4,900.00 per
month
Public Service Allowance, Housing Allowance,
Entertainment Allowance, Critical Service Allowance.

5. An application WILL BE REJECTED
if:
(a) it does not meet the qualification requirements
